Katie Ratte

Katie Ratt+¬ is principal counsel, privacy policy and strategy at the Walt Disney Company. Prior to joining Disney, Ratt+¬ was a senior attorney with the Division of Privacy and Identity Protection in the Bureau of Consumer Protection at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission. She investigated and prosecuted violations of U.S. federal laws governing the privacy and security of consumer information and brought the FTC's recent privacy action against Google, as well as the FTC's case against the data broker ChoicePoint, which resulted in the highest civil penalty collected to date in a consumer protection enforcement action. Ratt+¬ was one of the authors of the December 2010 preliminary staff report, Protecting Consumer Privacy in an Era of Rapid Change: A Proposed Framework for Business and Policymakers. She also served as counsel for international consumer protection in the FTC's Office of International Affairs, where she worked on a number of international policy initiatives dealing with privacy and data security, including the project to establish cross-border privacy rules in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).
