Senior IT Research Analyst, Technology Analysis

David Weinkauf is a Senior IT Research Analyst at the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC), where he works in the Technology Analysis Directorate. He is the author of several OPC publications, including the OPC’s Privacy Tech-Know blog on synthetic data and its upcoming series on algorithmic fairness. Prior to joining the OPC in 2021, David worked at the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC) as a Senior Policy and Technology Advisor. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Computer Science from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from McGill University. His IPC publication De-identification Guidelines for Structured Data won the 2017 International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners’ Global Privacy and Data Protection Award for excellence in research.
