About the IAPP

Rosa Barcelo works as a data privacy and cybersecurity lawyer in the law firm McDermott Will & Emery, based in Brussels.

Rosa advises on all aspects of data privacy law: from privacy issues in the electronic communications sector and connected devices to developing global privacy compliance programs, helping companies to engage in online advertising and reuse of data. She also helps with data breaches and cyber security incidents.

Rosa Barcelo has 25 years of experience working on data privacy and cyber security. Rosa’s previous experience includes her role as Deputy Head of Unit in DG CONNECT where she was responsible for the e-Privacy Directive and proposed e-Privacy Regulation. Rosa also worked with the office of the European Data Protection Supervisor.
