About the IAPP

Karim has been in the field of genetics and healthcare (prenatal and cancer) for over 20 years and have served as the Director of Investigations and Hearings with his regulatory College where he prepared material for the Executive Committee, appointed investigators under s. 75 of RHPA, appeared before HPARB and liaised with legal counsel (on both sides).

As President of his provincial association, Karim, in concert with the rest of the Board, updated the governance model and by-laws for current times resulting in an increase in engagement and membership.

As a Credentialed Trainer with the Synapse team, he assisted with the implementation of a new health information system by training health professionals and helping them navigate the system in order to allow the patients to receive robust healthcare.

As an infinite learner, Karim successfully completed the Law Society of Ontario's P1 exam, lectured and written on PHIPA and privacy and obtained numerous certificates (CIPP/C, IQMH, CLEAR and CAP).

Future plans include pursuing other CIPP designations, participating in and contributing to the world of privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, forensic/investigative genetics genealogy and corporate boards.
