About the IAPP

Cathy-Eitel Nzume, CIPP/US, CIPP/E is currently an Associate in a law firm, based in Dallas. As a certified information privacy professional for the Unied States and Europe, she stays current on industry trends, attends data privacy events, security events, and networks with privacy professionals. She is especially familiar with the GDPR challenges that U.S. based companies face, as well as the challenges created by the United States sectoral model. Additionally, Cathy-Eitel holds a Master’s of Law( LLM) from Howard University School of Law, as well as a Master’s from the Université de Picardie Jules Verne in France, which provided her with in-depth knowledge and the skills necessary to apply European and International Law. She also holds a MOOC certificate which was awarded after attending a European Privacy course in French. The said course was offered by the French CNIL (Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés). Finally, Cathy-Eitel provides privacy consulting services in Africa, and speaks at conferences held there on Privacy matters, in an effort to raise awareness on privacy issues around the world.

She was raised in Cameroon, Central Africa, where she was taught all the values that make her an asset in today’s multicultural environment. She is a certified French to English Court Interpreter in the state of Maryland. On her spare time, she enjoys reading, singing and spending time with her family.
