Diane Poitras

Me Diane Poitras has been a member of the Quebec Bar since 1986 and holds a graduate degree in applied ethics. She worked in the legal department of the Access to Information Commission, practiced in private practice, acted as an advisor to the minister responsible for the application and revision of the Access Act and held the position responsible for access to documents and the protection of personal information at the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail. When she was appointed as an administrative judge at the Commission d’accès à l'information in July 2011, Me Poitras was part of the Legal Services Department of the Administrative Tribunal of Quebec. On June 7, 2012, she was appointed vice-president of the Commission d’accès à l'information by the National Assembly of Quebec. She was appointed President of the Commission on December 5, 2019 after serving in the interim for almost a year.
Principal author of the Practical Guide on Access and Protection of Information, winner of the 2008 Legal Competition Prize of the Fondation du Barreau du Québec (“Directory” category), Me Poitras has taught at the National School of Administration public and at the University of Quebec in Montreal. The Association on Access and Protection of Information awarded her the Tribute Prize in 2011
