Joey is a technology lawyer and legal technologist with DBS Bank. In his day to day work, Joey spends his time between three broad areas vis., (a) legal and compliance advisory on the bank’s technology, sanctions and anti-money laundering initiatives, (b) advocacy efforts on regulatory issues relating to emergent technology such as data innovation, data ethics and AI governance, and (c) transformation projects within the bank that brings about new capabilities and ways of working for legal and compliance functions.
Beyond his work at DBS, Joey is actively involved in a number of professional committees, bodies and engagement. He is the co-chair of the Cybersecurity and Data Protection Committee of the Law Society of Singapore, the deputy chair of the Singapore Computer Society’s Ai Ethics and Governance Certification Committee and a member of the Continuing Professional Development and Information Technology committees of the Law Society of Singapore. Joey also serves on the management committee of AsiaDPO, and is appointed to the Expert Panel of SMU’s Centre for AI and Data Governance.
