Group Chief Privacy Officer

Greer Harris is a lawyer with over 14 years of privacy and information law experience in both the public and private sectors.  Greer commenced her privacy career in the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where she became the key adviser to the Privacy Commissioner on international privacy and data protection matters.  In this capacity, Greer advised on Australia’s lead role in the APEC Data Privacy Subgroup and was responsible for managing the negotiations of the APEC Cross-border Privacy Enforcement Arrangement (CPEA), along with input into the development of the APEC CBPRs. 



Since moving into the private sector in 2013, Greer has held a number of Legal and Compliance privacy roles. She has experienced privacy from both the Controller perspective at AstraZeneca, a pharmaceutical company with a presence in almost 100 countries, and the Processor perspective while at SAP and Salesforce. In October last year she accepted the role of Group Chief Privacy Officer and Data Protection Officer for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.



Greer holds a Masters of Laws and Legal Practice from the University of Technology, Sydney, majoring in International Law and a Bachelor of Applied Science from the Queen Margaret University College, Scotland.  She is also a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM).
