Westin Senior Research Fellow in Privacy Engineering

The IAPP seeks a seasoned professional with knowledge and experience in privacy engineering—in practice, in research, or both—for a research fellowship. This new position of Senior Research Fellow in Privacy Engineering will sit within the Westin Research Center at the IAPP to contribute original research, participate in multi-stakeholder and academic fora, and otherwise produce content on the growing field of privacy engineering.

Position Summary

As organizations develop new products and services that collect and process personal data, they are turning to computer scientists and engineers to address privacy from the outset of the design process. Recognizing the importance of privacy architecture and engineering, policymakers in the EU, U.S., and around the globe have included privacy by design mandates in legislation and regulations. Privacy engineers need to be well versed in technology, including encryption, blockchain, anonymization and human computer interaction, but also in cyber security and privacy policies. These new roles interact closely with privacy professionals in law, compliance, and business functions throughout the organization. The Senior Research Fellow will become a leading voice in this domain, and will create compelling original content for IAPP members around the world.
