About the IAPP

Sophie Farthing is Head of the Policy Lab at the Human Technology Institute (HTI) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). A human rights lawyer, her work focuses on human centred approaches to new and emerging technologies. Previously, Sophie was the Senior Policy Adviser to the Australian Human Rights Commissioner, leading the Human Rights and Technology Project at the Australian Human Rights Commission, and held policy roles at the Justice and Equity Centre and Liberty (UK). Sophie is a member of the AHRC Expert Reference Group on Neurotechnology and Human Rights.
