Rocio is a dual-qualified lawyer in both Europe and the UK, currently Director of OpenText’s Global Privacy and AI Public Policy legal advisory team. With over 20 years of experience, Rocio has built a distinguished career formerly as an external legal counsel at several leading law firms, where she led global privacy compliance projects. Over the past decade, her expertise has expanded to advising on blockchain, machine learning, and AI governance, focusing on risk management, transparency, and accountability.
Rocio has worked with both public and private sector entities, including central government projects, providing strategic guidance on the evolving legal landscape surrounding emerging technologies. She is a recognised contributor to industry publications, including the UK chapter of the AI, Machine Learning & Big Data (2019 edition) by Global Legal Group, and is currently involved in drafting voluntary frameworks and Codes of Conduct for AI, alongside in other related workshops.
Rocio is also an admitted member of the expert panels for the Council of Europe Data Protection Unit and the European Data Protection Board, a regular speaker at conferences and active contributor to academic papers and publications.
