About the IAPP

Emilie Van den Hoven works for the Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP) as senior supervisor of AI & Algorithms, in the Department for the Coordination of Algorithmic Oversight. In her work, she focuses on high risk AI within the EU AI Act and monitoring the broader fundamental rights and societal implications of AI.

Van den Hoven holds an LLB in International and European Law from the University of Groningen and received her LLM (research master) in Public International Law from the University of Amsterdam. She is currently finishing her PhD at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel on the use and normative implications of AI in international law-making.
