About the IAPP

Lynne Bird combines cutting-edge approaches to privacy compliance with over 20 years of delivering programs and solutions at scale. She joined Microsoft’s Core Services Privacy Team in 2018 to lead Privacy Operations for almost 1,000 line-of-business applications and systems. As part of Core Services Privacy, she guides and evaluates the privacy impacts of over 2,500 engineers developing first and third party platforms that manage $100bn in annual revenue.



Her passion for modern approaches to solving compliance requirements has given her deep insight into how large software engineering organizations and teams can maintain agility while improving their functional and privacy capabilities.



Lynne currently focuses on Privacy Operations processes that span business and technical arenas, including privacy review management, tracking data sharing, and communicating privacy engineering challenges to non-technical audiences. Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, she now lives in Washington State and enjoys traveling with family.
