Adenike is a common law qualified attorney passionate about navigating the complex intersections of regulatory compliance, data protection, privacy, and artificial intelligence. With over 5 years of experience, she has successfully advised various companies in market research, travel and mobility, and Adtech on global privacy. Her expertise spans critical regulations, including GDPR, PIPL, PIPA, PDPA, CPRA, CAN-SPAM and NDPA, covering regions from sub-Saharan Africa to the EU, US, and APAC.



Currently, Adenike serves as a Privacy Specialist in the Global Privacy Office at Rakuten Group, Inc. in Tokyo, Japan. In her role, she ensures that the company adheres to the highest privacy and data protection standards. Before joining Rakuten, she worked at a corporate commercial law firm, providing clients with strategic advice on regulatory compliance matters. Her journey into the privacy and data protection field was sparked by her experience as a Google Policy Fellow, which deepened her interest and commitment to these areas.



Adenike holds an LL.B. from the University of Ibadan and an LL.M. in Law and Technology from Tilburg University in the Netherlands. She is also certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as CIPP/E and CIPM.



When she is not working, Adenike enjoys immersing herself in a good book, gardening, or binge-watching TV shows and dramas. She believes in balancing professional dedication with personal interests and is always eager to connect with others who share her passion for privacy and technology.
