Maarten Stassen (CIPP/E, CIPM, AIGP) is a privacy & cybersecurity lawyer who provides strategic, pragmatic and business-oriented advice. His commitment to excellence is reflected in the development and implementation of robust privacy and AI frameworks, which benefit his clients in navigating the legal aspects of the complex digital ecosystem.
Maarten is a lecturer at the Data Protection Institute and has served as Vice Chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Privacy and Computer Crime Committee (Science & Technology Law Section), Co-Chair of the Brussels KnowledgeNet of the IAPP, and of its European Advisory Board.
Having practiced law in both Spain and Belgium, and having held leadership positions in international organizations in both Europe and the Middle East, he’s equipped to offer a global perspective, facilitate cross-border dialogue on emerging tech- and data-related challenges, and act as a sounding board for strategic business decisions. Maarten holds both Belgian and Spanish law degrees and is fluent in Dutch, English, French, Spanish, and Catalan.
