Privacy Compliance Program Manager, Chief Privacy Office, IBM

 

Maria Chhabria is a Privacy Compliance Program Manager in IBM’s Chief Privacy Office and is responsible for the implementation of IBM’s Global Privacy Assessment program. Maria advises IBM’s business units on data privacy and security matters, conducts privacy impact assessments, analyses current and emerging privacy laws and regulations, and prepares legal guidance to support the implementation of new privacy requirements. Prior to joining IBM, she was the Associate Director of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Section of International Law, where she oversaw programs, publications, and policy. At the ABA, she participated in the task force assisting with the implementation of the GDPR compliance program. Previously, she worked for the International Judicial Academy (IJA), the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF), and the American Society of International Law (ASIL).

 

Maria holds an LL.M. from The George Washington University Law School and a law degree (laurea in Giurisprudenza) from the Università degli studi di Napoli Federico II in Naples, Italy. She is a member of the New York State Bar, a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E), a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US), a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), and a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP).
