About the IAPP

Joanne Zaaijer is a senior attorney at law at Loyens & Loeff in the Netherlands. She specializes in data protection and privacy law, telecommunications law and e-commerce law.

Joanne advises clients on a wide array of privacy issues, such as data transfers, e-commerce compliance, direct marketing, profiling and big data, cookie and anti-spam laws. She also represents clients before courts and tribunals providing aid with complaint-handling during investigations or data breaches. Joanne is also a frequent speaker at privacy related events and regularly publishes insightful articles within the field of privacy.

Her clients include large multinationals in various sectors, including financial institutions, telecom providers, companies active in the healthcare, fashion and automotive industries, as well as foundations and start-ups.

Joanne holds various memberships, including a membership with the Dutch Privacy Law Association for Attorneys with the protected quality seal ‘specialist’ which reflects her demonstrated years of expertise within the field of privacy law. She is also a member of the Dutch Association for Information Technology and Law (NVvIR) and the Dutch Association of Advertising Law.

Joanne is the binding link between Loyens & Loeff’s Telecommunication and Data Protection matters and plays a crucial role in integrating the two. She is well respected within her field and clients appreciate her on-point as well as comprehensive advice.
