About the IAPP

Ben Westwood is the Director of Regulatory Compliance at IHS Markit. At IHS Markit, Ben is responsible for the company’s regulatory compliance frameworks, focusing on management of policies, processes, education, and supervision of regulatory programs, such as BMR, MAR, GDPR and CCPA.

As Regulatory Compliance Director, Ben applies a systematic approach to evaluating and assessing risk, establishing an appropriate control environment, whilst developing compliance mechanisms, and promoting a culture of compliance within the business. Ben is constantly seeking ways to execute the company’s compliance responsibilities faster and more efficiently, bringing scalable solutions that enables IHS Markit to swiftly meet its objectives whilst remaining fully compliant.

Prior to joining IHS Markit, Ben spent 12 months as the Senior Privacy Manager and UK Data Protection Officer (DPO) for eBay UK, which included responsibility for Gumtree.com and StubHub UK. Before eBay, Ben held DPO roles at several UK financial services organisations, such as Domestic & General, Vitality, and Legal & General.  

Ben is an IAPP Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) and holds the Privacy Professional Certifications (CIPP) for Europe, United States and Asia. Ben is also the Co-Chair of the UK Data Protection Finance Group.
