About the IAPP

Lupe is a partner in Bird & Bird's International Privacy & Data Protection Practice, based in London but also spending time in Madrid.

Her practice encompasses the full range of Privacy & Data Protection advice, from building privacy programmes and developing, drafting and implementing BCRs, through advising on investigations and penalty procedures.  With extensive experience in the FinTech sector in addition to her Privacy & Data Protection practice, Lupe also advises on IT and M&A transactions.  Her clients are drawn from a wide range of industry sectors, including Tech & Comms, Automotive, Financial Services, Life Sciences & Healthcare, Media and Retail & Consumer.  

Before joining Bird & Bird in 2017, Lupe established the privacy team at PayPal in the EMEA region and built a program to ensure that the collection and processing of personal data comply with applicable legislation and regulation. Following the separation from eBay, Lupe also led the process to obtain new BCRs (controller and processor) for PayPal.

Prior joining PayPal Lupe headed the Data Protection practice at Garrigues.

A regular speaker on data protection issues, Lupe has also lectured on LLM and specialist courses at the IE Law School, ICADE and the European University of Madrid, amongst others.
