Legal Counsel

Jacob Rogers is legal counsel at the Wikimedia Foundation. He manages the Foundation's international litigation, advises staff on privacy issues including the Foundation's Privacy Policy, and assists with the Foundation's efforts to improve online community health and protect user privacy and pseudonymity. He also assists with the preparation of the Foundation's Transparency report (transparency.wikimedia.org) which outlines the efforts to defend members of the online user community and help protect their information from government and third-party information requests from around the world.

 

Prior to his work at the Foundation, Jacob worked for the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations for the U.S. Senate, where he investigated international issues of taxation, finance, and technology trading. He attended Harvard Law School and obtained a B.A. in the history of science from U.C. Berkeley.
