About the IAPP

Monserrat heads the Firm's Intellectual Property and Technology Central America´s team, and is located at the Costa Rican office. Her practice focuses on Data Privacy, IT Law, and high level IP strategies.

On Data Privacy she works with their clients, designing global compliance programs for data privacy, implementing information security policies, and strengthening vendor and third party agreements.

She began her career in Argentina where she managed compliance and enforcement campaigns for some of the world´s most important software producers and trade associations. In 2011, Monserrat accepted a position at BSA The Software Alliance’s headquarters in Washington, DC, as legal counsel for Latin America´s antipiracy program, and in 2014 she joined the global compliance team where she worked on matters in Brazil, Mexico, India, Thailand, Poland, and Russia, analyzing among others, the data protection legislation impact on the program.

In 2016 she joined Dentons Muñoz, as Director of the Costa Rican Office, and since 2018 she is in charge of the whole region. 

On December 2018 she was shortlisted by the Financial Times for the Innovation in the Business of law for the implementation of- Dentons Direct IP Platform, an on line solution, that grants clients access to a personalized site containing their portfolios and projects with the firm, and helps to structure large projects such as the Privacy Impact Assessments she conducts at large companies. 

She is certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals –IAPP- as a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe - CIPP/e -, and is very active on lecturing and participation in associations like IAPP, ITechLaw and INTA, and in delivering conferences on IT and Privacy matters.
