I am corporate counsel at a privately owned company. For the last several years, I have had a role in our Safe Harbor certification. Since the invalidation of Safe Harbor, privacy now accounts for approximately 30% of my responsibilities. I lead bi-weekly privacy meetings (leaders from IT, Legal, and HR attend) and this year lead our Privacy Shield certification efforts. I am also responsible for taking the lead on my company's efforts to obtain Binding Corporate Rules. I partner with IT frequently in responding to customer questions. I am hoping privacy will become a bigger part of my responsibilities in the future.
