Managing Director

Limor Shmerling Magazanik is a leader of policy and strategy in technology driven sectors, promoting responsible innovation and the digital economy. She is the Managing Director of the Israel Tech Policy Institute and a Senior Fellow at the Future of Privacy Forum. In this role, Limor provides leadership of ITPI and directs the policy agenda; engages policymakers, regulators, academics, and business leaders; convenes multi stakeholder groups for discussion; in areas such as Digital Health, Smart Cities, Smart Mobility, Content Moderation, Ethics in AI, Open Data and more.



Limor joined ITPI after a decade with the Israel Privacy Protection Authority, serving most recently as Director of Strategic Alliances and previously as Director of Licensing & Inspection. She led policy initiatives and regulation in technology driven sectors and promoted compliance with data protection, privacy, cybersecurity and digital identity regulation. She also took part in various committees on national projects such as Biometric data, Credit Data, Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Open Data and formed the forum for Privacy Professionals in the public service.



She is an adjunct lecturer at the Hebrew University Faculty of Law and the IDC Herzlia School of Law, has LL.B., MA and LL.M. degrees from Tel Aviv University and is a certified privacy professional (CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM).



In 2018 Limor was chosen by Forbes magazine as one of the world’s top 50 women in tech.
