About the IAPP

Ana´s legal expertise lies in the areas of Information Technology Law and Data Protection. She holds IAPP’s, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT and FIP certifications in data protection and privacy. Her primary area of experience is assessments and implementation of the Data Protection Laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation.



Ana’s career began at the law offices of James P. Collins in Los Angeles. She was formerly Coordinating Director of the Legal and Compliance Department at Capgemini Portugal, a multinational consultancy firm. Ana has also worked as a legal consultant within the Procurement Directorate of the energy transportation company, REN. As a result of Ana’s vast and varied legal experience, she is knowledgeable in drafting and reviewing procurement procedures and coordinating international multidisciplinary initiatives and projects in attrition to her Data Protection work.



Currently, Ana works in Portugal as Head of Regulatory and Compliance for Caetano de Freitas & Associados, a boutique law firm specialising in international operations, which has offices in Lisbon and Abu Dabi. Within her role she works extensively with a number of domestic and international firms, giving legal support in English, French and Spanish in addition to her native Portuguese. She is currently a member of the Lisbon Bar Association and holds a prestigious position as co-chair of IAPP’s KnowledgeNet. Ana is also a recognised trainer for the certifications she holds. She has both an undergraduate Law degree and an LLM in Advanced European Legal Studies.



She received in 2018 Corporate LiveWire’s TMT Lawyer of the Year award.
