Mrs. Danielle Nelson-Shorter is the Principal Attorney of the Nelson Law Firm, PLLC, an estate planning law firm with a practice area in Privacy Law. Nelson-Shorter’s philosophy is that “You Can’t Control the Future, But You Can Plan for It.” Nelson-Shorter applies this philosophy when addressing clients’ needs and helping them to develop their goals and objectives.



Nelson-Shorter is a seasoned privacy professional with over a decade of experience advising and assisting clients with their privacy affairs. Nelson-Shorter has had the distinct pleasure of advising and serving a plethora of Federal clients at several Federal agencies with regard to privacy. As the privacy landscape continues to change to meet emerging technologies, Nelson-Shorter is able to maintain her focus on adhering to existing legal requirements, while being attentive to shifting changes in the privacy and security landscapes. Nelson-Shorter works very closely with Information Technology Security counterparts to help bridge the gap between security and privacy, foster integration, and ensure that privacy is not an afterthought with technology. Nelson-Shorter is primed with the requisite knowledge and expertise to help her clients to be compliant with privacy laws, regulations, and policies.

Nelson-Shorter earned a B.S. in Social Science from Campbell University, a Juris Doctor from the David A. Clarke School of Law and an LL. M (Masters of Law) from The George Washington University Law School.



Nelson-Shorter has been a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals for over a decade and maintains a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) certification.



Nelson-Shorter currently resides in Washington, D.C. where she enjoys her volunteer and legal pro bono work and advocating privacy.
