Senior Director, AI, Data and Privacy

Jas Johal is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Privacy & Data Compliance team; and is co-lead of Women in Security and Privacy (WISP) in London and New York. She brings almost 15 years of dedicated privacy consulting experience, leading global teams to support multi-national clients with developing and implementing international privacy programs, operationalizing legal requirements and addressing cross border data transfers, including through adoption of Binding Corporate Rules.

Jas’ privacy experience is truly international, having been located in London, San Francisco and most recently, New York. Having spent almost 5 years in the United States, Jas is regarded as having leading industry expertise supporting clients with implementing both the European General Data Protection Regulation, as well as addressing the ever-evolving US privacy laws and global laws across Latin America and Asia-Pacific. Jas has also worked across a wide range of sectors, including finance, technology, media, digital assets and automotive.

Prior to joining A&M, Jas spent over a decade with the Privacy and Data Protection Practice at Promontory, an IBM company, where she founded its global Privacy Centre of Excellence and most recently served as the Head of Privacy in Americas. As part of this role, Jas has led several multi-year global privacy programs, implemented privacy enhancing technologies, advised on topics such as AI, Digital Marketing and Ad-Tech, and supported with business-critical technology, cloud and digital transformations.

Jas also acted as the interim head of Privacy Legal Operations for a global social media technology firm in San Francisco, California, helping develop a privacy compliance framework in response to its’ FTC Consent Order.
