About the IAPP

Dan Steinberg is the Privacy Coordinator for the Food and Drug Administration. In his position, he designs strategic approaches to privacy compliance, technical assistance, breach response, Privacy Act requests, policy development, and training and awareness. Mr. Steinberg is a former Senior Official for Privacy for the Department of Health and Human Services. He has also contributed to several National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidance documents, including 800-66 (on the HIPAA Security Rule) and 800-123 (on protecting the confidentiality of personally identifiable information). He holds a JD from the Boston University School of Law and certifications including a Project Management Professional (PMP) and the IAPP's CIPP/G.
