About the IAPP

Lauren is Senior Managing Associate at Sidley Austin LLP in Brussels where she advises on a broad range of data privacy matters including regulatory compliance and enforcement of the EU GDPR and local privacy laws, cross-border data sharing and transfer issues, data breach and cyber incident response and data privacy issues arising in the context of internal and government investigations. Her experience also includes IP and EU data privacy and cybersecurity transactional work and advisory work under the EU NIS legal framework. She assist clients across a range of industries, with a focus on the financial and life sciences industry.

Some of her recent work includes assisting global companies with the implementation of global data sharing and transfer solutions and advising on the implications of the Schrems II CJEU case law, counselling U.S. clients on the impact of the EU GDPR and EU NIS Directive on global security incidents, and advising on emerging technologies including Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence.

Lauren is passionate about emerging technologies and their impact on data privacy regulation moving forward. In addition to being regulated by data privacy laws themselves, as these technologies often rely on the processing of personal data, Lauren is interested in how they can contribute to protecting personal data and positively advance this area of the law and policy.

Lauren earned her Master of Laws from the University of Leuven (KULeuven) as well as a LL.M in Intellectual Property and EU Competition Law from the University of Liège. She also holds a CIPP/E certification.
