Emilio Cividanes
Emilio Cividanes is a partner in the Washington, DC office of the Venable LLP law firm, and a founding member of itsprivacy and data security practice group, whichreceived the Award of Excellence from Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business.
Mr. Cividanes hasnearly three decades of experience in counselingclients in connection with privacy and data protection.
He also has successfully represented companies in connection with privacy-related litigation, and congressional and regulatory investigations. Among other cases, Mr. Cividanes was a member of the legal teams that represented GeoCities in the FTC's first Internet privacy case in 1997 andTiVo in a congressionally-requested FTC privacy investigation in 2001. He has in recent years represented companies in privacy investigations in a wide range of settings, including online advertising, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and data security.
The respected British research firm Chambers & Partners has repeatedly recognized Mr. Cividanes in its publications Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business and Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers for Business in the Privacy and Data Security practice area. Mr. Cividanes is a graduate of Haverford College and of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he served as Comments Editor for the Law Review.
