Christopher Lee, CIPP/G, CIPP/US

Chris Lee is a Principal Privacy Engineer with MITRE. At MITRE, Chris has evaluated PETs for project involving Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and digital assets, healthcare data for research, and law enforcement investigations.
Prior to joining MITRE, Chris worked at the United States Senate in several different capacities including technology advisor to two committees, legal counsel to a Senator, and as the Senate’s first Chief Privacy Officer. At the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Chris was the Science & Technology Directorate’s first Privacy Officer. His work included building privacy and civil liberties protections into projects ranging from biometrics to social media analytics to Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS).
Chris earned his Juris Doctor at The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law and Master and Bachelor of Science degrees at the University of Maryland. And he earned his CIPP-US & Government certifications in 2007.
