About the IAPP

Huey Tan is currently the APAC Senior Privacy Counsel for Apple Asia based in Singapore.  His legal experience includes privacy and data protection, intellectual property rights, information technology, government affairs, public relations and communication, and legal and regulatory affairs (including law enforcement). Prior to Apple, Mr. Tan held senior roles at Accenture (Global Data Privacy and Compliance Lead), Skype (Global Director, APAC government and regulatory affairs), Microsoft (APAC Director of Privacy Compliance) and VP, Business Software Alliance. Mr. Tan is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) and has a Master’s degree in Digital Media from the University of Swansea. He is a PhD candidate at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and taught Cyber law at the LSE’s Department of Law. His experience in the APAC region began as an intellectual property lawyer at Baker & McKenzie’s Hong Kong office, where he had gained expertise in software copyright issues representing a variety of IP owners, including games and software industry.
