About the IAPP

Mark Sward is the Director of Privacy with SterlingBackcheck, Canada's leading pre-employment background screening firm and a leader in the industry worldwide, operating in five countries. He manages the organization's privacy program in Canada and supports major privacy initiatives throughout the global business. In addition, Mark is SterlingBackcheck's subject matter expert on compliance in Canada, developing and communicating best-practice guidelines to help client organizations conduct background checks fairly and in accordance with privacy and human rights laws.



Mark holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science from McGill University and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Canada (CIPP/C) and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM).
