About the IAPP

Anita Barksdale is a leader in KPMG's Privacy and Cyber practice.  She is a licensed attorney, CIPP/US and CIPM.  She has served clients for more than 14 years offering management, advisory, legal, and business experience. She has led large-scale data and technology projects for Fortune 100 companies that enabled privacy and security for consumer experiences and additional data compliance strategy efforts, from developing policy to operationalizing with the engineers. She has written policies, procedures and binding corporate rules, led compliance program implementations globally, built information governance programs for companies that are balancing data as an asset and data as a liability, led teams building technology to enable privacy and security, created compliance programs, mapped personal data, and helped determine security and privacy controls for technology products going to market. She has also helped companies merge their data initiatives with their build out of technology internationally to digitize and enhance the customer experience. She is an IT auditor, lawyer, data, and privacy leader. She has worked with the top companies in the world, including leaders in retail, telecommunications, cloud, and technology.  She looks forward to using her former Board experience, her passion for women in technology, and her goal of empowering the future of privacy as she serves the IAPP and the Women Leading Privacy Advisory Board.
