Jeroen Terstegge is managing partner and principal privacy lawyer/privacy strategist at consultancy firm Privacy Management Partners (Utrecht, The Netherlands), with over 30 years of experience in privacy and data protection.

 

Before joining PMP,  Jeroen was responsible for global privacy compliance in Royal Philips Electronics. In this role, Jeroen was one of the founding fathers of the Binding Corporate Rules idea, for which he accepted the HP/IAPP Privacy Innovation Award 2006 on behalf of Philips. Earlier in his career, he worked for the Dutch Data Protection Authority on employee and social security privacy issues and contributed to the draft of the pre-GDPR Dutch Personal Data Protection Act at the Dutch Ministry of Justice.

 

Jeroen’s work focuses on public policy, ethics and fundamental rights in the information society, responsible innovation, and effective privacy compliance management, advising public and private sector clients in The Netherlands and internationally. He teaches Organization of Privacy Compliance in the Executive Program of Nyenrode Business University and is a CIPP/E trainer. He is also a frequently invited speaker, media commentator and trainer and has authored multiple books and articles on privacy and data protection.

 

Jeroen serves as the Chair of the Privacy Policy Committee of the Confederation of Dutch Employers and Industry Associations (VNO-NCW/MKB Nederland) and as a member of the Board of the Dutch Privacy Law Association (VPR). Jeroen also serves as IAPP Country Leader in The Netherlands. He holds a master’s degree in Business Administration & Law and a master’s degree in Dutch Law from Groningen University.
