David Weinkauf

David Weinkauf is a Senior IT Research Analyst at the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC), where he works in the Technology Analysis Division. He is the author of several OPC publications, including the OPC’s Privacy Tech-Know blogs on synthetic data, algorithmic fairness and homomorphic encryption. Prior to joining the OPC, David worked at the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC) as a Senior Policy and Technology Advisor. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Computer Science from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from McGill University. His IPC publication De-identification Guidelines for Structured Data won the 2017 International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners’ Global Privacy and Data Protection Award for excellence in research.
