Managing Director (APAC)

Josh is the Managing Director, Asia-Pacific of the Future of Privacy Forum. As an architect re-shaping societal relationships disrupted by technology, he leads a team furthering FPF's mission of advancing principled data protection practices in support of emerging technologies.

 

Before this, Josh served as the Legal Policy Manager for AI Governance in Singapore's Personal Data Protection Commission, where he helped drive Singapore's approach to AI regulation. He has previously also served as an Assistant Director for legal policy in Singapore's Ministry of Law, and practiced as an international disputes lawyer. 

 

Besides the law-of-tech, Josh is also active in Asia’s tech-of-law ecosystem. Josh founded organisations like the Asia-Pacific Legal Innovation and Technology Association and LawTech.Asia (an Asia-focused virtual publication on law and technology). In 2023 and 2019, Josh was named by Asia Law Portal as one of Asia’s Top-30-To-Watch in legal innovation and the business of law.

  

Josh is a member of Singapore’s Law Reform Subcommittee for Robotics and AI, and authored a report for the Committee on "Criminal Liability, Robots and AI Systems". He also holds research positions in the Singapore Management University and the National University of Singapore. Josh was also a chapter author in the book "Law and Technology in Singapore".



Josh obtained his LL.M. from Berkeley Law in 2022 as a White & Case Scholar and Richard Buxbaum Fellow. He was also named in Berkeley Law’s Dean’s List for 2022. Josh received his LL.B from the Singapore Management University Yong Pung How School of Law in 2015.
