Chief Privacy and Legal Officer

Rosario Cartagena is the Chief Privacy and Legal Officer / Corporate Secretary at ICES. In her role, Rosario provides strategic advice to the organization and her portfolios include privacy, legal, risk, compliance, and cybersecurity. Rosario has worked both in private practice and in the public sector advising on data law related matters. Rosario has an LLM from Osgoode Law School (Business Law) and a law degree (cum laude) from the University of Ottawa. Prior to attending law school, Rosario completed a Master in Science, Public Health Sciences from the University of Alberta and was a post-grad intern at the Harvard School of Public Health. Rosario is an adjunct lecturer, IHPME, University of Toronto and is a director on the board of Hospice Palliative Care Ontario. She is also the past Deputy Editor-in-Chief, of Health Law in Canada. Rosario is an avid speaker and writer on matters intersecting, health and data law.
