About the IAPP

Ian Wang is a senior partner of a leading PRC law firm, DeHeng Law Offices. He advises global clients on data protection, cybersecurity, and technology law issues, with a particular focus on cross-border transfer and the privacy implications of the emerging technologies, fintech, and e-commerce industries. Ian was awarded as one of the “China Top 15 TMT lawyers” by Asia Legal Business, and “Client Choice: Top 15 Compliance Versatile Practitioners” for 2020 by LEGALBAND. He also serves as the data protection expert of the China National Engineering Laboratory for Cybersecurity Emergency Response Technology and an expert in pilot program on cross-border data transfer of the Beijing Municipality. In addition, he is the author of the regulatory chapter of China Cyberbiosecurity Development Report 2020 published by the CNCERT. Ian is a China certified information security professional-personal information protection (CISP-PIP).
