About the IAPP

Arya is a Partner at PSA, a niche law firm based in India. She graduated in 2011 and has advised various domestic and international clients on diverse aspects of business and commercial laws, cross-border and domestic M&A, joint-ventures and investments, general corporate & governance, regulatory, and labor & employment matters. She is focused on advising clients in life sciences, defense, IT/ITES, technology & media, automobiles, heavy manufacturing industries, and social impact sector.

She is an IAPP Certified International Privacy Professional (Asia) and has substantial experience in advising global and national clients on comparative data protection and privacy laws, with specific focus on EU, Singapore, Hong Kong and Indian legal landscape. Arya pro-actively contributes to the Firm’s pro-bono services and regularly works with policy think-tanks, not-for-profit and social impact companies on varied legal aspects.

She has collaborated with technology policy think-tanks and participated in stakeholders discussions to make recommendations on India’s draft data protection bill, its impact on start-ups and MSMEs, state of encryption and intermediary liability and privacy framework for government’s contact tracing application, Aarogya Setu. She has keen interest in policy debates around digital economy and its potential to impact the last mile.

She is a member of ITechLaw Association, and is the Co-Chair of IWIN Committee. She is the Vice-Chair of NGC at IPBA, and Chair of IAPP’s Delhi KnowledgeNet Chapter. She has represented the Firm and spoken at various national and international conferences and seminars on a wide array of subjects. Arya has also published various articles in reputed international and national journals on contemporary legal topics, and regularly contributes to her firm’s publications with a significant focus on data protection laws. She was recognized as ALB Rising Star in 2022, a finalist in the Pro-Bono category for ALB Women in Law Awards 2023, and Mondaq Thought Leader in Data Protection India for Spring and Autumn 2023.
