About the IAPP

Engin is Uber's principal privacy architect. His team reviews engineering products and features to ensure that privacy is embedded into products and services as early as possible. He is also a member of Uber's Fairness Working Group, which advises teams on the issues of fairness and equity. Prior to Uber, Engin worked for health tech leader Philips and led their technical GDPR implementation program. Engin holds a Ph.D. degree in ethics of technology and an M.S. in software engineering both from Delft University of Technology (the Netherlands). Engin published one of the first academic works in algorithmic transparency and bias. He is also a member of the ISO/PC 317 Working Group which will soon publish a global standard on Privacy by Design.
