About the IAPP

Ella is the Data Protection & Privacy Counsel for Daily Mail and General Trust plc (DMGT). DMGT manages a global portfolio of B2B and B2C businesses and brands, which generates revenues of approximately £1.4 billion and has a market capitalisation of approximately £1.8 billion. It is the parent company of dmg media, which owns the print and online publications The Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, MailOnline, Metro and metro.co.uk.

 

Ella leads DMGT’s ongoing data protection compliance programme and advises the various operating companies on the full range of data protection and privacy matters. She has a particular focus on privacy issues relating to the adtech industry and advises on data processing agreements, marketing permissions and compliance requirements for dmg media’s consent management platform.

 

Prior to joining DMGT, Ella was the Group Data Protection Officer and Head of Legal Compliance for a global travel group comprising tour operator, airline and hotel businesses. She led the data protection compliance programme in preparation for the GDPR coming into force and developed a privacy governance framework with accompanying policies and procedures for the on-going maintenance of the company’s compliance obligations.
