About the IAPP

Amenda is an admitted Attorney of the High Court and is currently the Group Head of Data Privacy for Absa bank supporting countries such as Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia, with representative offices in Namibia, Nigeria and the United States, the United Kingdom and the United States. She has worked for various Law Firms, Pepkor Trading LTD, MiX Telematics and most recently MTN, heading up their Group Data Privacy Compliance departments. She has assisted Organisations in the establishment of their Data Privacy and Compliance Offices and provided advice and guidance over a broad range of compliance issues in the retail, financial, electoral, fleet and mobile asset management, public sector and telecommunications industry on Data Privacy best practices, regulatory compliance good governance. 

She formerly sat on three Boards, namely: Department of Treasury’s KZNFLA, Gugu Dlamini Foundation and the Advisory Board for the Association of Corporate Counsel Docket in Washington D.C. 

She holds qualifications in Law, Cyber Security, Compliance Management and is a qualified Privacy Professional holding a CIPM from the International Association of Privacy Professional in the EU.
