About the IAPP

Michael’s expertise and accomplishments surround the design and implementation of risk-management programs that meet regulatory and customer expectations — leading programs to meet business objectives while efficiently mitigating risk at large, international institutions. His primary focus has been on cybersecurity, data usage, ERM, and privacy through Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Information Security Officer, Chief Privacy Officer, legal counsel, and executive risk-management roles.

Michael is responsible for ensuring that Best Buy has a comprehensive understanding and set of approaches to its collection, use, retention, and disclosure of personal and confidential business information. He also leads the privacy and cybersecurity legal team and further supports Best Buy’s purpose of enriching lives through technology as a voice for consumers and responsible retailers in the development of privacy/cybersecurity legislation and the US Cyber Trust Mark Program.
