About the IAPP

Helena is an international lawyer with over 30 years of experience both as lawyer (Madrid, Paris and New York) and as in-house corporate counsel (Madrid, Paris and London). She is currently Head of the European Legal Department and DPO for Costco Wholesale, third largest retailer in the world, with European business operations in five countries. As DPO, she advises the senior management on Data Protection and Privacy. As Head of the European Legal department she further advises senior management on any legal matter that may affect the Costco business in Europe: regulatory compliance, consumer law, corporate governance, contracts (distribution, IT), employment matters, intellectual property, E-commerce, travel, litigations. She regularly participates in international forums about data protection and privacy laws, IT, e-commerce laws, etc.
