Marta Hovanesian is an associate in the Privacy + Data Security group of Morrison Foerster. Based in the Brussels office, she focuses on aiding global clients with the implementation of privacy and data security in all aspects of their business. Marta is particularly experienced working with teams seeking to develop privacy compliance strategies for digital transformations with clients across a broad range of sectors.



Marta’s practice is defined by her pragmatic and decisive counsel. She has found this practicality an asset in successfully driving difficult negotiations forward. She also has extensive knowledge of international data transfers and binding corporate rules.



Marta’s substantial experience includes assisting clients with data protection projects that range from development of new products and services to the adoption of new technology within their businesses, as well as handling complex contract negotiations. Marta has represented and advised clients on the implementation of central employee registration systems and data sharing strategies, and the development of health application services and security products. She has also counselled clients on their responses to privacy requests from regulators and individuals. Marta has a deep knowledge of GDPR regulations which she demonstrates in regular speaking engagements, her thought leadership, and working as one of the team building the MoFo European Law Resource Center.



Prior to joining Morrison Foerster, Marta was an associate in the IT, IP, and Privacy practice of a leading Dutch law firm and simultaneously spent time on secondment as a legal counsel at a global manufacturer which has offices in the Netherlands.



Marta is a Dutch qualified lawyer. She speaks fluent English and Dutch and is a native speaker of Armenian.
