IAPP and ARMA International Announce Partnership
ARMA members to get access to IAPP-certified privacy professional workshop training
Portsmouth, NH – October 15, 2013 – The International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the largest organization of privacy professionals in the world, announced a new partnership with ARMA International, the authority on information governance, to provide a one-day workshop that will deliver a foundational understanding of the privacy considerations and challenges involved in managing data. The workshop will be part of the ARMA International Annual Conference & Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada at the end of October.
As part of the workshop attendees will receive a copy of Foundations of Information Privacy and Data Protection, the accompanying textbook for the IAPP’s Certification Foundation program, the requisite for achieving the IAPP’s Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) designations, recognized as the global standard for professionals working in data protection. Participants will receive 7.5 ICRM maintenance credits and will also be eligible for a special package if they pursue the privacy professional certification program.
The course will cover the following areas:
- Common principles and approaches to privacy
- Overview of privacy and data protection regulations by jurisdictions and industry sectors
- Introduction to information security and information security management and governance, including frameworks, controls, cryptography, and identity and access management (IAM).
- Online privacy: Using personal information on websites and with other Internet-related technologies
