IAPP Appoints Former Director of Research & Insights, Mark Thompson, As Chief Strategy Officer
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – August 18, 2022 – The International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the largest and most comprehensive global information privacy community and resource, today announces the promotion of Mark Thompson as Chief Strategy Officer.
In this new position, Thompson is responsible for developing the strategy and providing executive oversight of operations for the IAPP globally. Additionally, Thompson will be at the helm of establishing an inspiring and clear vision for the future of international markets that will provide a basis for focus, direction and growth.

Thompson previously served as Director of IAPP’s Research & Insights team. He brings nearly two decades of experience working with major multinational companies to design, build and enhance privacy programs. Prior to joining IAPP, Thompson spent nearly eight years at KPMG, where he held positions as Cyber Risk and Regulation Service Line Lead in the UK, and Global Privacy Advisory Lead for KPMG’s global privacy practice, which specializes in providing privacy-related support and advisory services to KPMG’s clients across the globe.
