Kayla Bushey is a 2024 graduate from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, where she earned a certificate from the Law and Technology Institute. During law school, she served as the President of the Law and Technology Students Association, Managing Note and Comment Editor for the Journal of Law and Technology and published an article on the California Consumer Privacy Act’s expansion to employee data. As a law student, she worked as a judicial intern, a student contractor for the Future of Privacy Forum’s Youth and Education Group, and a legal intern for the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Federal Communications Commission’s Space Bureau. 

Prior to law school, Kayla was a staffer in the U.S. House of Representatives and a project assistant at the National Endowment for Democracy, where she first became interested in the risks and benefits emerging technologies pose to digital and privacy rights.

A California native, she graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in Global Studies. In her free time, you can find her cooking, reading, or spending weekends at local coffee shops.
