About the IAPP

Bart currently is the head of AI for KPMG Belgium, leading their internal transformation around AI, and also head of Advanced Analytics and Machine Learning, leading the client-facing offering around AI. He has over a decade of experience creating and delivering AI projects, managing teams of data scientists, and developing and executing data and AI strategies. During his career, Bart has created a wide variety of AI-driven solutions that are being used by hundreds of thousands of users. Prior to this, he held post-doctoral positions at Ghent University (BE) and Umeå University (SE) in statistical problems in the life sciences. He finds his drive in organizing Artificial Intelligence efforts and in translating the hardest business problems into practical client-facing AI solutions. Currently he spends most of his time on the business side of AI (from vision and ambition over ideation and roadmapping to the safe governance of AI) and on Trusted AI and the AI Act. Bart often speaks about AI, enjoys teaching about Machine Learning at the various Flemish universities, and also hosts a fledgling podcast, 101 stories to cement your AI leadership.
