About the IAPP

Ashwini Natesan is a legal consultant and researcher specializing in technology, media and communications law. Currently based in Sri Lanka, she consults on technology law issues with a leading law firm. She is also a research fellow at LIRNEasia, a think-tank, where her focus areas have been data protection, AI policy, regulation of social media, etc. Natesan has also worked on several research projects on access to information and open data. She was previously a part of the law reform committee on privacy and media law in Sri Lanka and the Committee on Responsible AI to draft the National AI Strategy for Sri Lanka. She was also a part of the University of Oxford's Media Policy Summer Institute in 2024.
